Feb 26, 2007: Creating, Sharing, Achieving The Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards 2007 The Commonwealth Foundation invites artists and craftspeople aged between 20 and 45 from Commonwealth countries to apply for The Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards 2007. Up to ten Awards of up to £8,000 each will be given for residencies of between three and nine months in another Commonwealth country. The closing date for receipt of applications is 1 May 2007. more

CDL Singapore Sculpture Award

PUBLIC FORUM ON THE PENAL CODE AMENDMENTS

Jan 30, 2007: In Nov 2006, the government floated a draft Penal Code Amendment Bill and called for public comment. The Penal Code reflects our rights and responsibilities living in Singapore. Despite the tremendous significance of the Penal Code in guiding the way Singaporeans order their daily lives, little explanation has been given by the government for the proposals so far. more

The Future of the UN

Jul 12, 2006: The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), in association with the United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS) and the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC), is initiating a series of talks by formally declared candidates contesting for the post of the Secretary-General of the United Nations. The first of these talks will be delivered by Mr Shashi Tharoor, currently Under-Secretary-General, UN. Invitations have been extended to the other declared candidates. more

Jul 3, 2006: In August, Shirley Soh and Margaret Tan are showing at the Container Culture exhibition at the ISEA2006 (International Symposium for Electronic Art 2006) in St Jose, USA. Both grrls have been steadfast in their duties at Witas, punishing personal schedules notwithstanding. Margaret is currently on a PhD programme at NUS. more
