About the artist / Artist's Statement
My art work reveals a fascination for fabrics of Asian and Western origin. The fabrics are “tools” to express historical and socio-cultural identities. Looking at the ordinary daily life is my main concern. In this respect I conceptualize and visualize questions of identity and belonging in todays fast-changing and globalising world. As everybody is constantly on the move - mentally and physically - we can only add meaning to our identities by a steady process of adjustment. Looking for “Heimat” (a German expression for heartland/homeland) is basically a search for self and nothing static.
